THE BERNARD GALLACHER PRIZE
A FABULOUS ACHIEVEMENT
Last weekend saw one of the most profound events in the Wentworth golfing calendar, The Bernard Gallacher Prize. First played in 1979, the competition sees our ladies, gentlemen and juniors all take to the East and West Courses in a double shotgun start to battle it out in aim to take home the designated trophies. Taking an 18-hole stableford format, followed with Bernard Gallacher himself presenting the trophy to the winners, this event is one of the highlights of the Club calendar.
Huge congratulations to all 12 Scholars who participated, especially to our winner Jess Stofberg, a new Scholar, of which this was her first ever Wentworth event! To take home the trophy is quite the achievement and we hope this is the first of many on her journey as a Wentworth Scholar. A special mention to Heidi Man who is also a new Scholar and was runner up due to countback, Kodi Dean who had an extremely consistent round and Reggie Fear for having four birdies on holes: 2,3,9 and 14.
The results are as followed:
1st Junior: Jess Stofberg with 36 points and better back-nine.
2nd Junior: Heidi Man with 36 points.
3rd Junior: Kodi Dean with 35 points and better back-nine.
Junior Special Prize: Reggie Fear for having 4 birdies.
