Storming into the Season
GREAT START TO THE SEASON FOR ONE OF OUR SCHOLARS, JOSH THOMPSON.
For one of our Scholars Josh Thompson, it has been a very busy start to the golfing season. He recently played in the Faldo Series at Brocket Hall which was a 54-hole gross play tournament over 3 days with a cut of the top 60% from the first 36 holes. He came T34th in the boys U18 category out of a field of 151 and T16th in the U16 category out of a field of 81. He said he struggled with greens initially but fought hard and said it was a great experience and was fairly happy with finishing T16 for his first tournament of the year.
The week after he played in the Midland U16 Boys Open Championship at Hawkstone Park Golf Club. This was a 54 hole gross play tournament with 36 holes being played on the Thursday and the cut was the top 42 boys out of 82 to play on the Championship course on the Friday. Josh came T3rd and made the cut. He came T7th overall which was 1 shot away from T3rd. He said it was nice to get a top 10 finish in tough conditions and a strong field with lots of positives to take.
As he continues into the season, there are numerous aspects he is looking forward to and looks to take home a win (or two!).
